Accountancy boss to chair Halle orchestra
09/10/2008
An official at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) is moving on to take up the role of board chairman at the Halle orchestra.
David McKeith, senior partner at the financial services group, will replace the incumbent Edward Pysden later this month.
Commenting on the move, Crain's Manchester Business described Mr McKeith as a "well-known figure" among the city's business community.
Indeed, he has spent two decades at PwC and has been president of the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce for the last year.
Mr Pysden is standing down after nine years as chairman of the Halle board.
His tenure has included such notable developments as the creation of a youth orchestra and choir.
The Halle currently holds the record of being the longest-running symphony orchestra in the UK.
It was founded in Manchester back in 1858 by Sir Charles Halle.
