Martin Amis debates science

28/11/2008

Find out what author Martin Amis thinks about the claim science is overshadowing literature as a means of explaining the world.

He will debate the issue alongside high profile psychotherapist Adam Philips and philosopher and academic John Gray at a special event in Manchester.

Tickets are priced from £3 to attend the University of Manchester’s Whitworth Hall on December 1st.

Amis has been professor of creative writing at the Centre for New Writing since September last year and as such takes part in four lively debates on contemporary issues each year.

The author is most critically acclaimed for Money, London Fields, Time's Arrow and The Information.

In this event, speakers will ask if science has overtaken literature as a way of making sense of life.

Photos of Amis in his younger years go on display at the National Portrait Gallery showing the literary and art circles he moved in during the 1970s, reported the Art Daily.
