Sir Alex handed two-match ban by FA

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has been given a two-match touchline ban and fined £10,000 after admitting a charge of improper conduct.

The charge related to an incident earlier this month following Manchester United's 4-3 win over Hull City at Old Trafford.

Ferguson came on to the pitch to remonstrate with referee Mike Dean who, he felt, should have dismissed Hull defender Michael Turner for a tackle on Michael Carrick.

"I have no reaction because I have not read the charge yet," Ferguson said after he had been charged by the FA.

"I am a bit surprised. But this is the FA. They were probably dying to send me a letter."

Ferguson's subsequent admission of the charge and his previous disciplinary record were considered by the Football Association when deciding on his punishment.

The ban starts on December 2nd and covers the Carling Cup game with Blackburn and the league match against Sunderland at Old Trafford on December 6th.
