Tevez wants permanent contract from United
17/05/2008
Striker Carlos Tevez says he would love to sign a permanent contract with Manchester United as he enjoys being at the club so much.
Tevez is currently on a long-term loan from West Ham United following months of negotiations last summer about who owned the Argentinean the Hammers or Tevez's agent Kia Joorabchian.
United have been keen to get the striker signed to a permanent deal and officially make him theirs and the striker now appears ready to make a similar commitment to the club.
Tevez says he is happy at the club and is enjoying the chance to compete for the biggest trophies in club football, with the Champions League final looming next week.
He said: "I would certainly love to extend my contract, I am very happy here. I would go and sign right now if the opportunity was there.
"From day one, everyone has treated me well and the fans even shout 'Argentina', which has made me feel right at home. That is why I am so happy here. Now to have the opportunity to win two big trophies is fantastic. The atmosphere around the squad is amazing."
The 24-year-old believes he is currently playing in the best league in the world. The Argentinean claims the all-English final of the Champions League is testament to that.
And although he has not ruled out a move to Spain later in his career, insists he is keen to remain with United for the foreseeable future.
"A lot of South Americans prefer to play in Italy or Spain when they move to Europe," said Tevez.
"Maybe one day I'll play in La Liga, but I'm really pleased that I came to England. This is the best league in the world and I'm amongst some of the best footballers in the world. I'm really happy about that."
