Walcott set for shoulder surgery
19/11/2008
Reports claim Arsenal winger Theo Walcott will undergo shoulder surgery in the next few days after sustaining a knock during training with England yesterday.
It is estimated that Walcott will not play again until January due to the rehabilitation that is required after the operation.
Walcott saw a specialist and had scans on the shoulder on his return to England today and it has been decided that an operation will be required to fix the problem.
The winger, who has had a run of shoulder problems, initially aggravated the injury against Stoke City at the start of the month and sustained further damage when he fell during England's training session in Berlin yesterday.
It is reported that the midfielder will be out of action for up to eight weeks following the surgery.
If estimated rehabilitation time is correct then that would mean Walcott would be absent from the remaining fixtures of the Gunners' Champions League group games along with key Premier League matches against Chelsea and Arsenal.
Although Arsenal beat Manchester United two weeks ago they have only taken four points in their last four games and Walcott is sure to be missed by Arsene Wenger's side in the lead up to Christmas.
