Chambers makes drugs claim
28/05/2007
Disgraced athlete Dwain Chambers has claimed other top athletes are using performance-enhancing drugs.
The British 100m star was banned for two years after testing positive for the designer steroid THG in 2003.
Chambers, a former European 100m champion, is trying to rebuild his career as an American football player for financial reasons after being stripped of his medals and earnings following the positive drugs test.
The 29-year-old said athletes are continuing to find ways to beat the testers.
"It's simple, science always moves faster than the testers," Chambers told the BBC.
"Some people take chances some don't, and I was willing to take that chance."
"I was under the assumption that I wouldn't get caught."
Chambers controversially returned to the track last year and helped Great Britain win the gold medal in the 4x100m relay in the World Championships in Gothenburg.
But his selection caused uproar with team-mate Darren Campbell boycotting the celebrations because of Chambers' inclusion.
Chambers said he was recovered from his drugs shame and is currently playing for the Hamburg Sea Devils. In NFL Europa.
"We all go through different chapters in life," Chambers said.
"I came to a crossroad in my life where I took a wrong turn, you know, got hit by a bus.
"But fortunately I was able to get back up on my feet and you know, go in another direction."
