18/08/2008

Great Britain's Tasha Danvers has made it through into the final of the women's 400m hurdles at the Beijing Olympics.

Danvers clocked a season's best time of 54.31 secs as she finished second behind one of the event favourites - Sheena Tosta of the United States (54.07 secs).

The 30-year-old Briton was a finalist in Sydney 2000 but has suffered with a series of injuries in recent years.

However, she will be confident going into tomorrow night's final after seeing the result of the second semi-final, which was won by Melanie Walker of Jamaica in a time of 54.20.

Another of the favourites - Tiffany Ross-Williams - is also through to the medal race after finishing third in the second semi-final in a time of 54.99 secs.ADNFCR-8000014-ID-18736691-ADNFCR
