Champion Klitschko eying fight with Britain's David Haye

27/03/2008

Undisputed world heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko has admitted he would be interested in fighting Britain's David Haye.

Haye shot to world prominence with a brilliant knockout win over Enzo Maccrinelli to unify the cruiserweight division earlier this month. But the Londoner is now expected to relinquish the belts and move up to heavyweight.

The confident Haye wants to win all the heavyweight belts in the space of three years and he has even offered to fight Klitschko in his next fight. The 27-year-old described the Ukrainian's win over Sultan Ibragimov earlier this month as "embarrassing".

But Klitschko hit back by saying: "I hadn't heard about David Haye at all until last month. But I've checked his record and he is a good fighter with a good record.

"If he wants to bring excitement then I wish him best of luck. He better get himself in the gym and get ready to fight.

"He is young and is trying to put attention on himself and that may work for him because he has to be very loud, but not only with his words but with his actions. I wish him the best of luck with that."

Klitschko will defend his WBO title against American Tony Thompson in the summer and revealed he was using the fight to get rid of the nerves he had in the build up to a potential fight with Haye. ADNFCR-8000014-ID-18526184-ADNFCR
