Eastman fight announced
12/01/2006
Howard Eastman has announced that he will begin the road back towards the IBF title with a fight against Edison Miranda in the spring.
Eastman's last fight ended in defeat to the current IBF holder Arthur Abraham in July and the fight against Miranda is an eliminator towards a rematch for that belt.
The boxer known as the Battersea Bomber went back to his native Guyana after the defeat to Abraham.
He will now travel to the United States and set up a training camp there to prepare for the fight with Miranda.
Eastman said: "I got goose bumps when my promoter Mick Hennessy gave me this news.
"I have not felt like this for a long time. He has given me the opportunity to spring myself back into contention."
The British boxer has admitted that he feels the need to prove himself once more after defeats to Abraham, William Joppy and Bernard Hopkins.
He said: "The fight with Abraham is a fight that was destined to have a rematch. I am looking forward to fighting him again. I still want rematches against William Joppy and Hopkins but we are doing things backwards."
