Glasgow to host next Khan fight
28/02/2006
Amir Khan will fight his seventh professional bout at the Braehead Arena in Glasgow on March 25th, promoter Frank Warren has suggested.
The 19-year-old Bolton basher continued his winning ways by stopping Jackson Williams in the third round at London's ExCel Arena on Saturday.
Warren said after the one-sided affair that he is keen to see his charge back in the ring as soon as possible and this could well be on the undercard of the Scott Harrison versus Joan Guzman fight in Scotland next month.
His opponent has not yet been named but "an experienced American" is the preferred choice.
"We are looking at different styles, we are looking for someone who will give Amir something different to think about," Warren said.
"I'll be looking for an American who is going to come in and press him up and who will also be very durable."
Speaking via FrankWarrenTV, the notorious fight promoter added: "I was absolutely delighted with Amir's performance on Saturday and I think he showed us another dimension to his boxing. Some of the body shots he threw were really good."
Khan only signed professional terms last summer but already boasts an unbeaten 6-0 record, with five wins coming inside the distance.
Commenting on news of the fight, he said: "It will be good because Americans' styles are a little bit different.
"In my whole career I think I have fought three Americans, stopped two of them and beaten the other one so I should be good against that style."
