Harrison stuns Williams in rematch
10/12/2006
Audley Harrison absorbed the derision of the crowd to beat Danny Williams in a rematch of their fight last year, picking apart his opponent inside three rounds.
Both men looked in far better physical condition than the first time they met and, having come to blows at the weigh-in, the fight predictably started at a furious pace which never let up.
Harrison was the instigator and dominated throughout in what was his best performance since turning professional in 2001.
A-Force, as he likes to be known, had a high work rate and kept Williams on the end of his jab, counter-punching when he could. Midway through the first round he unleashed a fearsome punch which cut Williams's nose wide open and caused him to stumble.
In the second round Harrison continued to pick his punches and cut Williams again, this time below the left eye. This caused the referee to stop the fight to allow the doctor to check on Williams' health.
In round three Williams, knowing time was short, came out swinging, but Harrison sent him to the canvas with an upper cut. Williams got up only to be sent crashing down once more moments later.
After the fight Harrison said: "Last year I was not in the right place. I came back today with my closet cleared out. Boxing is what I want to do and let me go on in my career."
