Harrison vows to return
22/10/2007
Former world featherweight champion Scott Harrison claims he is ready to put his recent troubles behind him and make a dramatic comeback to the ring.
The 30-year-old was stripped of his WBO title in December last year after failing to make the weight for a defence against Nicky Cook.
The build-up to that clash had seen the Glaswegian spend time behind bars in his home country and Spain, as well as receiving treatment for a drink problem and depression.
Although his last bout - a successful points defence of his WBO crown against Nedal Hussein - was almost two years ago, Harrison is backing himself to claim another world title after returning to the gym and stepping up a weight division.
"I'll be looking to get back in the ring in December or early January, probably December," he said.
"I've been training hard so in another seven weeks I will be brand new. I've got my family about me and my two kids as well and I'm feeling good. In fact I've never felt better."
Harrison, who fell out with his previous promoter Frank Warren over his wayward behaviour, insists that he is now fully focused on matters inside the ring.
"At the end of the day it was really my own fault. I'm a man to say it, but everyone goes off the rails, I'm not going to be off the rails for the rest of my life," he said.
"You go off the rails and then you go back on the rails. I'm here to stay and I'm looking forward to getting my career back in December and grabbing back that world title."
