Hatton shrugs off arm injury as title fight looms
08/01/2007
Ricky Hatton has shrugged off an arm injury which has been hampering his training as he prepares for his Las Vegas title fight with Juan Urango.
The 'Hitman' suffered the blow during his preparation for the title fight, which will take place on January 20th, at trainer Billy Graham's Phoenix Camp gym.
However, despite having to sit out some sparring sessions, Hatton's father revealed Ricky was in prime shape for the IBF Light Welterweight clash.
Ray Hatton said his son was used to adversity, adding the Mancunian boxer was full of belief with just a fortnight left before the title fight.
"It's not ideal but we got through it as Ricky went into the gym so early," he explained. "We're confident going into the fight."
"We've had all these problems before - you don't go through 41 fights without having bumps along the way," he added.
The 28-year-old was short-listed for the BBC sports personality of the year award last month after a dramatic 2006 which saw him beat legendary champion Kosta Tszyu last June.
