Hatton trainer hits back at Warren
06/01/2008
Ricky Hatton's trainer has slammed Frank Warren after the promoter claimed the Manchester fighter should dump him.
Warren launched a scathing attack on trainer Billy Graham after Hatton was knocked out by Floyd Mayweather in Las Vegas last month.
The promoter, who had a bitter split with the Hatton camp in 2005, said "Graham is one of those guys who take the credit for the wins but not the responsibility for the losses."
Graham has hit back by branding Warren a "jilted lover".
"What Frank knows about tactics could be written on a postage stamp.
He is a boxing promoter. I've lived with boxers day in, day out for years and, if I say it myself, my record isn't bad," Graham told the Sunday Mirror.
"I don't know where the rumours about Ricky ditching me came from and he is adamant they are nonsense, but he did ditch Frank Warren.
"Now Frank sounds like a jilted lover. He just slags people off in his column and can't take any criticism in return. It's a bully-boy tactic but in reality he's a wimp.
"It's common knowledge that Frank and I detest each other, but I don't keep putting it in print as he does."
Under Graham, Hatton has 43 wins and was undefeated until his loss to American Mayweather. The 29-year-old is set to clash with Manny Pacquiao in his next fight, according to reports.
