Khan wins again
26/02/2006
Amir Khan continued his unbeaten record as a professional by stopping Jackson Williams in three rounds.
The Bolton-born youngster, in only his second fight scheduled to last six rounds, dominated the fight from the start and forced the referee to stop the bout two minutes and 18 seconds into round three.
It was Khan's sixth win as a professional and he admitted afterwards he was pleased with his performance.
"He gave me a test, took a lot of shots and was giving it back as well," Khan said.
"I got in a lot of body shots, which is something we had been working on, but there's a lot more to come from me as I am only young and have a long way to go."
Khan went on the attack from the opening bell and was in control of the opening two rounds.
Williams was knocked down right before the end of round two by a Khan right which gave the Norwich man a bloodied nose.
However, the 24-year-old didn't survive the third as he was knocked down again at the start of the round before a left uppercut from Khan dazed him and the 2004 Olympic silver-medalist pounced ruthlessly.
Khan delivered a series of body shots and referee Dave Parris was forced to step in to save Williams and give the bout to the 19-year-old.
Frank Warren, Khan's promoter, was impressed by his display.
"We know Amir can punch and has great hand speed, but the things that particularly pleased me were that he showed good defence and good composure," Warren said.
"I think this was his best performance so far as you couldn't fault him tonight."
Khan's next fight is in Glasgow next month on the undercard of the Scott Harrison and Joan Guzman WBO world featherweight title bout.
