Mayweather: I will bust De La Hoya up

Floyd Mayweather has begun the countdown for his eagerly-anticipated fight with Oscar de la Hoya by calling the boxer a "pussy" in an aggressive meeting of the two superstars.

In a frenetic press conference in New York the two boxing legends squared up to one another, lighting the touch paper for an already hyped fight.

Mayweather hassled his opponent, jostling and taunting him before the reporters gathered at the press conference.

Dismissing the chances of De La Hoya, nicknamed the 'Golden Boy' and considered one of the best pound-for-pound boxers of recent years, Mayweather was bullish.

"I'll do what I've done to 37 others and bust his a**," he said.

The fight will take place at the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas on May 5th, with De la Hoya defending his WBC light middleweight crown and Mayweather his WBC welterweight title.

Tickets have already evaporated for the clash, with the latest confrontation only likely to ratchet up the atmosphere when the bell sounds for round one.
