Tyson wants a Hatton win
08/12/2007
Controversial boxing great Mike Tyson believes it would be good for the sport if Ricky Hatton was to beat Floyd Mayweather.
Tyson was known for his high-flying lifestyle and was involved in a number of notorious incidents which blighted his career. But even he says he doesn't like Mayweather's "flash" lifestyle.
"I want Hatton to win. I like his style, I like his attitude," said the former World Heavyweight champion.
"I'm not the same with Mayweather. I don't like the flash stuff. I don't like the way he acts with money and the arrogance.
"It's going to be tough for Hatton to win but it would be good for the sport if it had someone like him right at the top."
Tyson isn't the only American boxing great expecting their countryman Mayweather to lose. Middleweight star Bernard Hopkins admitted he was backing Hatton to win.
"I see something in Hatton, I think he's the more focused fighter," said Hopkins, who is expected to fight Joe Calzaghe in the near future.
"Hatton is going to throw more punches than Mayweather ever did. The busier, more aggressive fighter, will win."
Mayweather goes into the fight as the bookies' favourite, but he will have to deal with a raucous crowd at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas after thousands of Hatton fans made the trip to watch their hero in action.
