Weigh-in advantage for Williams
09/12/2005
Danny Williams has weighed in at a massive 19st 6lbs ahead of his heavyweight Battle of Britain clash with Audley Harrison at London's ExCel Arena tomorrow.
The 32-year-old 'Brixton Bomber' carries over a stone more than Harrison, 34, who weighed in at just 18st 1lb.
However, whether or not this weight advantage will prove beneficial to Williams or indeed to Harrison remains to be seen.
Williams stands at 6ft 1½ins and has received criticism throughout his career for consistently arriving at fights weighing near the 20st mark, which some claim has prohibited his movement and ability to avoid punches.
The lighter 'A-Force' Harrison contrastingly, measures up at 6ft 5½ins tall and is viewed as in far better physical condition.
Harrison also has an 86-79ins reach advantage but, despite having an unblemished 19-0 fight record, he does fall short in the big fight experience category.
Williams boasts a record of 33 wins with 28 via knockout and just four losses but includes in that record a valiant title shot defeat by the now retired Vitali Klitschko.
The tale of the tape promises much as do the two boxers' pre-fight war of words, all of which bodes well for what should be the biggest domestic heavyweight fight since Lennox Lewis' clash with Frank Bruno in 1993.
