Williams added to King's Hall bill

17/05/2006

Britain's top heavyweight Danny Williams will fight at the King's Hall arena in Belfast this Saturday night, it has been confirmed.

The Brixton bomber has been drafted on to the bill following the late withdrawal of WBO featherweight champion Scott Harrison, who has today checked into The Priory centre to deal with depression and alcohol addiction.

An opponent for Williams, 32, the division's reigning commonwealth champion, is yet to be announced.

Promoter and Williams' manager Frank Warren admitted: "I am delighted that Danny has stepped in to replace Harrison."

Williams will once again lock horns with British champion Matt Skelton in Cardiff on July 8th and Warren added this weekend's prelude would provide the perfect preparation.

"Danny will look to get in a good performance on Saturday night ahead of his rematch with Skelton in Cardiff," he added.

The heavyweight currently boasts a professional fight record of 35 wins, with 28 coming via knock out, and four losses from his 39 bouts.

He will provide the main support in Belfast for top billing Eamonn Magee, who defends his WBU welterweight title against Iranian-born Londoner Takaloo.
