Spice Girls to front Tesco ad
26/10/2007
Supermarket giant Tesco has confirmed that it has recruited the UK's most famous female band to spice up its Christmas sales.
A spokeswoman for the retailer confirmed that the Spice Girls had filmed a new festive advert for the company, with the commercial set to go on air next month.
Sporty, Posh, Ginger, Scary and Baby have each made £1million from agreeing to front Tesco's Christmas ad campaign, the Sun newspaper claims.
Reports say the commercial filmed for Tesco sees the recently reunited group in seasonal cheer, gathered around a table laden with Christmas goodies.
A Tesco spokesman told the Press Association the company was "thrilled" to be working with the Spice Girls.
However it is not known how the company feels about Victoria Beckham's recent revelation that rival high street store Marks and Spencer is her favourite shop. Posh made the remark shortly before her move to Los Angeles with her footballing husband David Beckham, with reports quoting the star as saying that she would miss the store following her transatlantic shift.
Nonetheless, Tesco will no doubt be hoping that the Spice Girl's new-found popularity will see Christmas come early for its shareholders.
The group recently confirmed more UK dates for their worldwide reunion tour, after tickets for their December 15th gig at London's O2 Arena sold out in an amazing 38 seconds.
Meanwhile the Spice Girls confirmed earlier this week that they are currently filming a television documentary charting their history. Spice Girls: Giving You Everything is to be screened on BBC One and is being directed by Emmy-award winning film maker Bob Smeaton.
