Flintoff makes duck as Lancashire lose to rivals Yorkshire
20/06/2008
Andrew Flintoff made a golden duck as Lancashire were beaten by rivals Yorkshire by four runs in the Twenty20 Cup at Old Trafford.
Yorkshire made 135-8 after winning the toss with Gerard Brophy starring with 44 off 36 balls, with Simon Marshall taking 3-11 while Flintoff did not bowl.
The England all-rounder was then trapped lbw off the first ball he faced as the home side made 131-6, with Francois du Plessis top-scoring with 42.
Yorkshire are now second in the North Division while Lancashire stay in fourth position.
Elsewhere, holders Kent beat Middlesex by 25 runs at Beckenham to end the visitors' unbeaten run in the competition.
The game was reduced to eight overs per side due to the rain. After winning the toss and choosing to bat, the Spitfires made 86-7 with South African Justin Kemp hitting 28 off ten balls.
In reply, Middlesex were reduced to 61-7 with James Tredwell taking 3-9 in his two overs.
Despite the defeat, Middlesex stay top of the South Division while Kent move up into second place.
Elsewhere, Essex piled on the misery for Surrey after a 70-run victory at Chelmsford.
After being put into bat, the home side reached 164-9 with James Foster starring with 41 off 23 balls.
The Brown Caps were all out for 94 in reply with Mark Ramprakash making 18 while all-rounder Abdul Razzaq made a duck.
Elsewhere, Sussex thumped Hampshire by nine wickets at the Rose Bowl.
The Hawks were skittled out for 85 with Christopher Liddle taking 4-15 from 20 balls.
Sussex reached their paltry target in 9.3 overs with Murray Goodwin striking 46 from 26 deliveries.
Elsewhere, Durham beat Leicestershire by eight wickets at the Riverside, Warwickshire defeated Worcestershire by 38 runs at Edgbaston, and Derbyshire saw off Nottinghamshire by eight wickets at Derby.
Somerset's clash with Gloucestershire at Taunton was abandoned without a ball being bowled due to the rain.
