04/05/2008

Andrew Flintoff took 2-13 as Lancashire beat Durham by five wickets in a thriller in the Friends Provident Trophy at Old Trafford.

In a game reduced to 23 overs per side due to rain, Flintoff, James Anderson, and Kyle Hogg took two wickets apiece as the visitors reached 151-7.

Michael Di Venuto struck 66 for Durham before being bowled by Flintoff.

In reply, Flintoff made ten before being dismissed by England team-mate Paul Collingwood.

Mal Loye top-scored with 58, before falling to Steve Harmison, as Lancashire passed their target of 151 with the last ball of the game.

Lancashire have won all three of their Trophy games and top the North Division.

Elsewhere, a ton from James Benning helped Surrey beat Middlesex by five wickets at Lords.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, the home side made 233-8 thanks to some solid contributions from the lower order.

Surrey passed their target with three overs to spare, with Benning smashing 106 off just 84 balls.

Hampshire beat Gloucestershire by five wickets by the Duckworth-Lewis at the Rose Bowl.

The visitors made a mammoth 350-5 with Gidman making 105 and Hamish Marshall hitting 64.

Hampshire were on 242-4 after 29.3 overs when the rain came down, and they won the game by virtue of having a higher run rate.

Kent defeated Sussex by four wickets at Hove thanks to an unbeaten 68 by South African Justin Kemp.

Kemp was supported by Martin van Jaarsveld (58) and Joe Denly (43) as the visitors passed their target of 245 with one ball to spare.

Earlier Sussex made 245-6 in their 50 overs with Michael Yardy top-scoring with 50.

Elsewhere, a century from Hylton Ackerman guided Leicestershire to a 39-run win over Ireland at Grace Road.

Marcus Trescothick made just 15 as Somerset lost to Glamorgan by 19 runs at Taunton.

Scotland got their first win of the competition after seeing off Derbyshire by 29 by the Duckworth-Lewis method.
