Harmison left out of England team
29/07/2008
Steve Harmison has been left out of the England side to face South Africa in the third Test at Edgbaston tomorrow.
Durham team-mate Paul Collingwood, however, has been recalled in place of Stuart Broad.
Harmison had been hoping to be recalled to the England team after being dropped during the recent tour of New Zealand.
He was named in the initial 13-man squad but the selectors today decided to go with an extra batsman.
Broad has been in impressive form with the bat this summer, top-scoring in the last Test match and averaging over 40 in his test career so far.
His inability to take wickets though proved decisive. He only took three wickets in the first two Tests against South Africa.
For their part, a South African spokesman confirmed star batsman Jacques Kallis was "100 per cent fit" ahead of the Test match.
Andre Nel will replace face bowler Dale Steyn, who has a broken thumb, in the only change to the South African team.
