Inzamam-ul-Haq wants to play county cricket this summer
31/01/2008
Former Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq hopes to return to England and play in county cricket this summer.
Inzamam, who retired from international cricket at the end of Pakistan's World Cup campaign last year, spent a short spell at Yorkshire last summer as a replacement for countryman Younis Khan.
Although the 37-year-old has yet to receive any offers from any county sides, there will no doubt be plenty of sides interested in taking a man who scored close to 9,000 runs in Test cricket and recorded 25 hundreds.
"Although I suppose you might say I am semi-retired - as far as internationals go anyway - I would still welcome an offer from a county team in England," said Inzamam.
"Maybe not for the whole season but if there was an opportunity to help a team out for two or three months like I did at Yorkshire last year I would be very interested.
"I enjoyed my time at Yorkshire - the players, the people and the staff, they were all very friendly."
Inzamam played international cricket for 15 years and he added that he felt he could use his experience to help some of the younger players in the English game.
The last competitive cricket Inzamam played was in the breakaway Indian Cricket League in November, but he insisted "I may be out of practice, I haven't lost my ability".
