Paceman Harmison fires reminder to England selectors
25/05/2008
Steve Harmison guided Durham to a 38-run win over Scotland in the Friends Provident Trophy at the Riverside.
Harmison and brother Ben took three wickets apiece as Scotland were skittled out for 192.
Earlier, the Dynamos made 230-6 with Neil McKenzie top-scoring 68 while Phil Mustard hit 57.
Harmison, who finished with 3-39, is aiming for a recall to the England squad for the third Test against New Zealand which starts on June 5th at Trent Bridge.
The win sees Durham remain top of the North Division while Scotland stay rock-bottom and without a win.
Elsewhere, ex-England batsman Mark Butcher made an unbeaten 66 as Surrey beat Essex by eight wickets at Chelmsford.
The home side were bowled out for 215 in their 50 overs with former England Under-19 captain Varun Chopra making a run-a-ball 79.
Surrey reached their target with ease thanks to Butcher making 66 off 84 balls, while Usman Afzaal hit an unbeaten 50.
Elsewhere, Worcestershire beat Glamorgan by seven wickets in a low-scoring game at Swansea.
After the game was reduced to 31 overs per side due to rain, the Dragons made 135-9 with Jamie Dalrymple starring with 47.
The visitors reached their target after 28 overs with opener Vikram Solanki making 69.
Elsewhere, Gloucestershire defeated Hampshire by five wickets at Bristol.
In a game reduced to 20 overs per side due to the weather, the Hawks set 145 for victory with Michael Lumb top-scoring with 76.
The Gladiators clinched victory with two balls to spare thanks to 71 from Craig Spearman.
Elsewhere, Derbyshire's clash with Yorkshire at Derby was abandoned due to the rain with the visitors on 59-4.
The rain also forced the games between Middlesex and Sussex, Northamptonshire and Nottinghamshire, and Warwickshire against Ireland to be abandoned without any play.
