Pietersen hails "spectacular" performance
26/08/2008
Kevin Pietersen hailed a "spectacular" performance from his England side after they dismantled South Africa in the second one-day international at Trent Bridge.
Pietersen saw his side win by 10 wickets, after they had bowled the Proteas out for just 83, and couldn't quite believe what he had seen.
"It was spectacular," said Pietersen, who now has a 100% record as England captain.
"It was a remarkable victory and one to be enjoyed because, to be totally honest, we are always on the receiving end of thrashings like that.
"In the four or five years I have played one-day internationals we have not hammered a team as convincingly as that before."
While Pietersen admitted that there is "an energy and a buzz" about his side, he was mindful that his squad dont get too carried away with the result, which leaves them one victory away from clinching the five game series against South Africa.
"I just like to concentrate on what we do and on what we do well," he said.
"The key for us is not for any of us to gob off about anything because we haven't won anything yet.
"Our main goal is to win the series and our team is performing to the level they should be doing."
