Prior recalled for one-day series
04/08/2008
Sussex wicketkeeper Matt Prior has been recalled to the England squad for the one-day series against South Africa.
The 26-year-old is preferred to Tim Ambrose, who has been largely disappointing with the gloves and the bat in the recent Test series against the Proteas.
Nottinghamshire batsman Samit Patel, who has been in impressive form in the Twenty20 Cup and the Pro40 this season, is the only uncapped player to make the 15-man squad for the one-day series and the Twenty20.
He is joined by county team-mates Stuart Broad, Graeme Swann and Ryan Sidebottom for the first match under new permanent captain Kevin Pietersen.
The skipper's Hampshire team-mate Chris Tremlett is named among the bowlers for the series.
And Essex all-rounder Ravi Bopara, who celebrated a call-up to the 13-man squad for the final Test match of the series at the Oval this week, is also named in the squad.
England play South Africa in a Twenty20 match on Wednesday August 20th, before the five-match one-day series against Graeme Smith's side begins on Friday August 22nd.
