Sachin: Hundred for Sir Don

Sachin Tendulkar dedicated the hundred he scored against Australia in Adelaide today to the great Sir Don Bradman.

The Indian star notched his 39th Test ton, but it was his first at Adelaide – the home ground of Bradman. Tendulkar's 124 not out put his team in a strong position of 309 for five at the end of the first day's play.

"I know Adelaide hasn't been a great ground for me, in 1999 I scored 61 but it otherwise hasn't been a great ground, so I was determined to get a big one," Tendulkar said.

"It also happens to be Sir Don's home ground, so I think that it was a tribute to Sir Don. It's truly special, and sometimes I need to look at the scoreboard to figure out whether I'm 100-plus or zero.

"It means a lot to me and would like to thank each and every person for treating me like this," added the Indian star after he was given a round of applause when he came out to bat.

India are 2-1 down in the four match series, but have every chance of winning the final Test after an excellent first day.

They built their innings around Tendulkar, with Virender Sehwag (63), and VVS Laxman (51). Tendulkar will come out to bat with wicket-keeper Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who is unbeaten on six.
