South Africa 110-2 as rain halts play
09/08/2008
South Africa remain 12 runs behind England as heavy rain causes only 17 overs to be played on day three of the final Test.
The tourists began the day 85 behind England's first innings total of 316.
By the lunch interval Hashim Amla had inspired South Africa to 110-2, just 12 runs behind England.
Amla took advantage of some wayward bowling to advance to 71, which included 14 fours, before rain forced the players to take an early lunch.
Stuart Broad was the only English paceman to make any inroads into the South African attack.
Broad struck in his first over when Neil McKenzie got an inside edge and played onto his middle stump for 29.
Amla and Jacques Kallis steadied the ship, with Amla reaching his ninth Test 50 before rain brought a halt to proceedings for the day.
