Warne slams "arrogant" Aussies
21/12/2007
Shane Warne has accused Cricket Australia of having an "arrogant mindset" and has warned they will not be world number one forever.
The spin bowling legend, who has taken more Test wickets than anyone else in Australian history, believes other countries will overtake his home nation in the future.
But he has warned that Australians' belief that they are invincible, given the massive gap in the ranking points between themselves and England in second, could be their downfall.
"The only issue I've got with cricket at the moment is that Australian people and administrators and ex-players and ex-coaches have got to stop the arrogant mindset that Australia is so much better than anybody else," Warne told the Sydney Daily Telegraph.
"Yes, Australia is the number one country in the world, but all this bull about our players going to other countries and playing, what a lot of c**p.
"There's going to be a time in the next two or three years when Australia is tested. Other countries will catch up and they will unearth someone, that's just the cycle."
Second-placed England are set to lose their place to South Africa having endured a worrying slump in form of late.
Peter Moores' side have won just three of their last 14 Test matches, including a 5-0 whitewash at the hands of the Australians in the 2006/07 Ashes, and are in line to lose the current series to Sri Lanka.
