Book claims two more Jack the Ripper murders

06/09/2008

A new book, written by a retired murder detective, claims that Jack the Ripper may have committed two more murders.

The dates of the two new murders are before what is believed to be the serial killer's first killing in 1888. The writer, Trevor Marriot, says the famed villain could have been involved in two murders in 1863 and 1872 which are yet to be solved.

In the book, The Evil Within, Mr Marriot further claims that the internal organs of the earlier victims had not been removed. Jack the Ripper is known to have killed five prostitutes and to have removed the organs from those victims.

In comments cited by the BBC, Mr Marriot says: "The organs were not removed by the killer at the crime scenes but by person or persons unknown for medical research at some point between the bodies being removed from the crime scenes and the post mortems taking place some 12 hours later.

"In both these cases the bodies had been left alone and unattended outside makeshift mortuaries," he added.

Mr Marriot is set to present his findings at Docklands Museum, where an exhibition about the serial killer is currently being held.ADNFCR-8000014-ID-18767877-ADNFCR
