Man jailed after repeatedly raping daughters
25/11/2008
A British man who repeatedly raped his two daughters for more than 25 years and fathered seven children by them has been jailed today.
The 56-year-old Sheffield man was jailed for life with a minimum term of 19 and a half years after pleading guilty to 25 rapes and four indecent assaults.
Sheffield crown court heard that he "took pleasure" in knowing the harm he was doing to the girls, which resulted in some 19 pregnancies.
Of the 19, ten were miscarried or aborted, two of the children died on the day of their birth and seven survived.
Nicholas Campbell, prosecuting, told the court: "The defendant played Russian roulette as to whether there would be complications in the pregnancies and with the health of his daughters."
The prosecution claimed the man, who can't be named for legal reasons, threatened to give the girls a "real hiding" if they refused to have sex with him.
