Police investigate BNP link to car fire
21/11/2008
West Yorkshire police have confirmed they are investigating a car fire last night close to the home of a suspected British National party (BNP) member.
A spokesman for the force said that officers were called at 22:40 GMT last night to reports of a car fire in the Windy Bank area of Liversedge.
Reports suggest that the car did not belong to anyone connected with the BNP but it was parked on the same street as the alleged member.
The police spokesman said that no-one had been injured in the blaze and no arrests had been made at present.
He said that inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the fire were ongoing and when asked said that the BNP connection was one line of investigation being undertaken by the police.
"The cause of the damage and any potential motive all form part of the current investigation," the spokesman said.
Earlier this week, a list of alleged BNP members and their addresses was leaked on the internet.
