Police raid neighbour of murdered Chinese students
04/09/2008
Police officers investigating the murder of two Chinese students in Newcastle have raided a house on the road where their bodies were found.
Officers searched the house on Croydon Road as part of the investigation into the deaths of Zhen Xing Yang and Xi Zhou, both 25.
The pair were found dead in their flat on August 9th. Their bodies were found in separate bedrooms and post-mortem examinations showed they had been stabbed to death, while Ms Xi was also suffocated.
Northumbria police have stated in the past that the pair were involved in an internet betting ring and may have been involved in forging documents and qualification documentation.
Officers executed a search warrant at the address on Croydon Road in connection with the murder investigation but no arrests were made.
A number of occupants are said to be being interviewed as potential witnesses to the enquiry.
Northumbria police travelled down to London last month to appeal to members of the Chinese media and community for help in their investigation.
