Teenager 'commits suicide' live on internet

21/11/2008

A 19-year-old man has apparently committed suicide live on the internet after being encouraged by others watching online.

Reports suggest that the Abraham K Briggs, from Florida, took an overdose of pills while broadcasting a video on the streaming website Justin.tv.

The teenager supposedly told others on a chat forum that he was going to commit suicide and posted a suicide note on another site.

He then took the pills before switching on his webcam and lying on a bed with his back to the camera.

Forum members eventually contacted the police after he lay still for several hours.

Local police broke into the room, finding the body and turning the camera off.

The Times newspaper suggests that up to 1,500 people were viewing the live feed at the time it was switched off.

The 19-year-old's death was confirmed by Broward county medical examiner, Fox News reports.ADNFCR-8000014-ID-18889130-ADNFCR
