BBFC to seek judicial review
17/12/2007
The British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) has confirmed it will seek a judicial review to prevent Manhunt 2 from securing a release in the UK.
Last week the Video Appeals Committee (VAC) itself part of the BBFC - announced it had overturned the BBFC's decision to deny the controversial videogame a classification, which had effectively denied the game a release.
The BBFC issued a statement after the ruling suggesting it would consider taking further legal action as part of its sustained attempt to ensure the game was not released.
According to the BBFC, the VAC's decision was based on an "incorrect interpretation of the Video Recordings Act" the legislation controlling digital media classification in the UK.
