Kerry "sobbing uncontrollably" after burglary
17/07/2007
Kerry Katona has been "sobbing uncontrollably" and is in a "real state" after being burgled at knifepoint in her home.
According to publicist Max Clifford, who spoke to GMTV this morning, the former Atomic Kitten singer has been shaken by the ordeal.
The 26-year-old was held captive in her Wilmslow home alongside her young baby while three balaclava-wearing men stole more than £100,000 worth of goods.
Her husband, Mark Croft, had confronted the burglars but was led around the home by some of the men while he identified things to steal.
No one was hurt in the incident after the burglars, wielding a sledgehammer, a crowbar and a large knife, broke into the former singer's home shortly before midnight yesterday.
Clifford said: "She's been sobbing uncontrollably and shaking and she's in a real state.
"When she was a young girl, she had to pull a knife out of her mother's leg that her mother's partner had plunged in at the time. But she's always had a real fear of knives. Even in the kitchen, the knives are covered up.
"So it's bad enough for anybody of course, but for her it was even worse, she has a real phobia about knives. As Mark said to me, if it had been a gun - as ridiculous as that sounds - it wouldn't have been as frightening for Kerry."
He added that the magazine columnist was not yet ready to return to her home and is staying with family.
"When I spoke to her yesterday, she said 'I just can't face going back. This was a dream and now it's a nightmare,'" the publicist said.
