Moss joins rich list
29/04/2007
Kate Moss has featured in the annual list of Britain's wealthiest elite for the first time.
The supermodel has an estimated fortune of £45 million, according to the Sunday Times Rich List.
Moss' wealth makes her one of the UK's 100 richest women.
Her inclusion in the rich list also marks a further stage in the comeback of the Croydon-born fashion icon, whose career took a nosedive in 2005 after a tabloid newspaper printed pictures of her which alleged she was snorting cocaine.
Despite losing a string of major contracts at the time, Moss bounced back from the debacle and has since substantially boosted her earnings.
The queen of the catwalk is set to increase her income even further following the launch of her new fashion range for high street retailer Topshop tomorrow.
Shoppers will be given access to the company's Oxford Street store between 20:00 BST and midnight tomorrow night in order to get their hands on Moss' designs for the first time.
In the wake of the dramatic queues seen at the opening of the nearby Primark fashion store earlier this month, shoppers will be given just 20 minutes to peruse the supermodel's collection, from which they will be permitted to buy just five items.
Other Topshop stores around the country will begin selling the range on Tuesday morning.
According to the Sunday Times Rich List, Moss is not the only one in Britain to have boosted their wealth in 2006.
The paper reveals that the UK's wealthiest 1,000 individuals increased their earnings by 20 per cent over the year, with Indian steel magnate Lakshmi Mittal topping the list with a fortune of £19 billion.
Russian tycoon and Chelsea football club owner Roman Abramovich is ranked second, with his wealth of £10.8 billion making him one of the 68 billionaires now living in Britain.
