Vue to begin adults-only screenings
06/11/2008
The Vue chain of cinemas is to introduce adults-only screenings to its UK outlets after a successful trial was conducted last year.
Selected showings of certain films classified as PGs, 12As and 15s will be open only to those aged over 18 in a bid to curb "unwanted disruptions" that can occur with younger audiences.
The policy will be rolled out across 58 cinemas throughout the country, with the first film-goers set to benefit being those with tickets for the new James Bond film Quantum of Solace - a 12A - from this Friday (November 7th) onwards.
"These screenings have been launched in direct response to overwhelming positive customer feedback obtained from extensive research studies and trials carried out over the past year," said Vue Entertainment spokesman Mark de Quervain.
"This confirmed a significant number of cinema goers wanted to see PG, 12A and 15-rated films in screenings that could avoid unwanted disruptions that can sometimes be caused by audiences under the age of 18."
Future films to get the special treatment are yet to be determined, although Vue said it would allow audiences to vote for certain releases they would like to be added to the category.
