Cadbury pulls chocs after 'nut allergy label glitch'
14/09/2007
Cadbury is recalling thousands of chocolate bars after a nut allergy warning was omitted on their wrappers.
The company said that the oversight was due to a printing error at its factory in Bristol.
Under the terms of the recall Cadbury is asking consumers to return all Dairy Milk Double Choc 250g that carry the "Win a Prize and a Half" promotional message.
"The affected product is clearly identifiable by the 'Win a Prize and a Half' flash on the front of the package," a statement explained.
"Only the promotional 250g Double Choc product is affected, no other Cadbury Dairy Milk products are affected nor any other 'Prize and a Half' promotional products."
A spokesperson elaborated that the chocolate bars were "perfectly safe" for people not allergic to nuts.
Affected customers have been asked not to eat the product and contact Cadbury on its helpline 0800 818181.
"Cadbury wants all consumers to be able to enjoy our products and would therefore like to apologise to any consumers inconvenienced," the representative added.
