Athletics fest continues in Albert Square
20/07/2007
The Norwich Union Athletics Festival is currently underway in Manchester's Albert Square and runs until July 21st.
Celebrating athletics and sport, the festival is open to "anyone who wants to come down and have a go", with free games and challenges for participants of all ages and information on how to join local athletics clubs.
The free event features a sprint tunnel, a reaction wall, target golf, rugby, a climbing wall and giant inflatable games, with a range of prizes and giveaways taking place over the three days.
Councillor Mike Kane, Manchester City Council executive member for culture and leisure, said: "This is a great opportunity for people to come down to Albert Square and try out a sport they've never done before."
Visitors to the athletics and sports festival can win tickets to the Norwich Union World Trials and UK Championships at the end of July.
Manchester was recently named the lead authority in a 2007 list of best parks in England and Wales published by the Civic Trust's Green Flag Award scheme.
