Bez declared bankrupt again
17/04/2008
Happy Mondays dancer and percussionist Bez has been made bankrupt despite winning £50,000 in Celebrity Big Brother in 2005.
This is the second time that the 43-year-old, who lives in Chorlton, has been declared bankrupt. The first time was in August 2004.
In fact after leaving the Big Brother house three years ago he said the prize money meant he could "walk straight with no stress".
Bez was declared bankrupt at London's high court and his case has now been passed to the Official Receiver, who will decide how much he can pay to his creditors.
Last August, Bez, whose real name is Mark Berry, asked judges to send him to jail after committing a driving offence as he did not want to do community service. He escaped with a fine.
Bez joined the Happy Mondays shortly after the band's incarnation in 1980. The band split in 1992 and he joined Shaun Ryder to form Black Grape.
The Happy Mondays reunited in 2004 for a number of live performances before going to record their first album in 14 years, Uncle Dysfunktional.
