Bolton Market award 'will raise profile of the town'
19/10/2006
Bolton's tourism chief has welcomed the fact that Bolton Market on Ashburner Street has won the award for best food and drink outlet in the Manchester Food and Drink Festival.
Nick White said the recognition will raise the profile of the market and the town, reports Bolton News.
Traders in Bolton are also pleased with the accolade, especially as it beat off competition from the likes of Harvey Nicholls in Manchester and organic food outlet Unicorn in Chorlton.
Siobhan Hanley, a member of the judging panel, told the newspaper: "We were very happy to give the award for best food and drink outlet to Bolton Market as we felt it had the best range of fresh local produce and that the fish market is superb.
"The competition from other venues in and around Manchester was tough but we felt the market really deserved this accolade."
The award was presented by BBC Radio Manchester's breakfast presenters Eamonn O'Neil and Dianne Oxberry at a gala dinner in the Great Hall.
