09/01/2007
Ian Brown and Echo and the Bunnymen have been confirmed as on the bill for a charity concert to be staged in Manchester.
The former Stone Roses frontman is one of the first artists named as appearing at the forthcoming Manchester Versus Cancer show, which is scheduled to take place at the at the end of March.
Last year's show, coordinated by former Smiths' member Andy Rourke, featured a stellar line-up with local acts such as New Order and the Doves taking to the stage to help raise money, reports AlbumVote.
"We knew that Versus Cancer was going to be big, but we didn't realise just how successful it would turn out to be," said the guitarist and concert organiser.
"This next one is even bigger, but we're still looking for support from the public and businesses to make sure as much money as possible goes to the cause."
According to NME, Andy Rourke has been working with Ian Brown on the singer's fifth album, The World is Yours.
The former Stone Roses' lead singer told the music magazine that he is also trying to get Paul McCartney to work with him on the project.
