City prepares for 8 days of Jazz
21/07/2006
Music hits the city streets tomorrow, as the Manchester Jazz Festival begins its eight-day programme.
Around 50 bands from around the world will descend on the north-west city across a number of different indoor and outdoor venues.
Additionally, there will be a plethora of festival activities spread over each day, which are free of charge.
Jazz fans will be able to tap into their favourite genre at the cathedral, Albert Square, St Annes Square and BBC Radio Three's recording studios.
The Toni Kofi Trio and the Monty Alexander Trio are expected to be festival highlights, as well as the Wigan Jazz Collective.
For those Manchester residents or visitors who want to experience more jazz once the festival ends, Matt & Phreds, in the city's northern quarter, offers live performances six nights a week.
Franny Eubanks will be performing his Chicago blues at the venue tonight, with tickets set at £5 per head.
