City's future to be decided by drop-in day?
28/11/2007
Manchester City Council has announced it is holding a consultation day on December 4th, giving members of the public the chance to look at exhibits and talk to city planners about new developments.
Taking place at Manchester Art Gallery on Mosley Street between 12:00 and 20:30 GMT, the informal drop-in event for anyone who lives, works, or visits the city.
Interested parties can even pre-register to take part in workshops, which will look at topics such as climate change, the economy, unemployment, sustainable communities and development.
Councillor Neil Swannick said: "If you're interested in how our city develops for the next generation, we want to hear from you.
"What people tell us now will influence the planning decisions we take over coming years at both strategic and local levels."
The announcement of a drop-in day comes after it was reported that 20,000 Mancunians are to be randomly selected by Mori North to take part in a ten-minute survey.
Questions pertaining to quality of life, anti-social behaviour, local democracy, cultural activities and public transport will be raised by the pollsters.
