Comedy festival to swing this weekend
20/10/2006
Manchester Comedy Festival is likely to "get into full, funny bone-prodding swing" this weekend, according to the Metro.
Described by the newspaper as "an accomplished stand-up" who has "a real talent for verbose improvisation", Russell Brand will be appearing at the Dancehouse on Saturday and the Palace Theatre on Sunday.
Following the success of television shows Russell Brand's Got Issues and Big Brother's Big Mouth, the comedian was recently crowned as the funniest man at the Loaded Laftas Comedy Awards.
Also participating in the festival is Paul Kerensa, who will appear at the Zumeba tonight. Kerensa will be using the Back to the Future trilogy as a platform for his Back to the Futon show.
Other attractions include the Andrew Maxwell's Full Mooners at the Comedy Store tonight and Mrs Barbara Nice at Matt and Phred's on Sunday, reports the newspaper.
And on Saturday afternoon, the Comedy Store will be showing Mancunian Movie Memories a compilation of old clips from Mancunian Films.
