Diverse talents on show at Mega Mela
25/07/2007
Those wanting to experience a range of different cultures right in the heart of Manchester need look no further than the annual Mega Mela, a two-day festival including performance, arts, crafts and food.
Scheduled for July 28th and 29th at Platt Fields Park in Fallowfield, the event is being recommended by Manchester City council and looks to have a packed line-up in store.
Indian, Bangladeshi, Sri Lankan, Nepalese and Pakistani communities from around the city are all set to bring their talents to the park, with musical and dance-based performances on the agenda.
"The Mela is one of the highlights of the year in Manchester and will once again provide an opportunity for communities to come together in a celebration of the city's diversity," said councillor Mike Kane, executive member for culture and leisure.
He added that the event is likely to suit all members of the family and have something for everyone to enjoy.
Platt Fields park also hosts various firework displays and festivals throughout the year.
