Family film fun comes to Manchester
10/08/2006
A new film festival is taking place in Manchester later this month, which offers a host of screenings and activities for families.
The UK's first Family Friendly Film Festival runs from August 25th to 28th 2006 in a number of venues across the city, including the Cornerhouse, the Manchester Museum, the Chinese Arts Centre and Cosgrove Hall.
The festival claims to offer the best in international film for families and organisers are hoping that it will become an annual event. Films for this year have come from around the world, including offerings from India, the United States, Taiwan, Iran, Mexico, France, Japan, Canada and the UK.
Festival organisers said in a statement: "Why should you come? To see a great selection of films for kids and families - life is just as complex for kids as adults, so why should children's films be superficial and formulaic.
"From UK premieres and recent classics to short films for the very young, we have a great variety of top quality films that promise to inform, enlighten and above all entertain."
Workshops during the festival offer access to an array of professionals teaching everything from filmmaking to puppet animation.
