Fashion display scheduled for spring

09/01/2008

A retrospective of the career of iconic fashion designer Matthew Williamson will be shown at the Urbis in Spring 2008.

The exhibition, entitled 10 Years in Fashion, will feature a selection of Mr Williamson's pieces including those worn by Kylie Minogue and Sienna Miller.

The designer was born and raised in Chorlton, before moving to the capital to study at Central St Martins. After winning a series of awards, including Elle Designer of the Year, he now works as creative director at Emilio Pucci.

Sarah Deaves, chief executive of the exhibition sponsors Coutts & Co, commented: "His work remains at the forefront of the industry with his cutting edge colour and print designs and natural ability to dress women beautifully."

Williamson has also expanded his reputation through work on special projects, such as limited edition Coca-Cola bottles, Smythson stationery and an exclusive range of wallpaper for Habitat.

The exhibition will be on tour from the Design Museum in London.
